The Porta-King division has roots dating back to the beginning of the modular construction industry. We started in 1969 as “ParKing,” devoting our entire production to small, factory assembled buildings. At the time, these small buildings were most often used in the petroleum industry as small gas station attendant booths. The name was changed to Porta-King Building Systems in 1974 when we started producing a modular wall system for use as an alternative to conventional construction. Applications include partitions and interior buildings for in-plant offices, equipment enclosures, clean rooms and more. We invented the Pivot Lock modular wall system in 1977 and were granted a US Patent on that system shortly thereafter. Porta-King has continued to add products and system designs to improve product offerings and application innovations, making Porta-King the market leader.
Our corporate operations, engineering department and technical sales team are headquartered in Earth City, Missouri and we have 10 regional sales offices located in major cities throughout the country. Our manufacturing operations are located one hour west of St. Louis in Montgomery City. As we have grown so has our manufacturing capacity. Today, our diverse line of prefabricated and modular construction solutions is produced in two separate facilities with a total 180,000 square feet under roof.
